Exploring Logos : The Professional Examples ...

I have concentrated on two of the companies logo; looking at denotation and connotation. I have chosen to focus on the Warp film company logo, due to it just being the only film production company out of our four choices. Secondly I chose to focus on Studio Canal, as it is a french-based distribution production company.

Warp Logo
The logo, has a simplistic colour scheme with only black and white, this could demonstrate a simple and clean cut company. The symbol behind the wording is circular, with lines going horizontal and vertical, illustrates to me a world, which can tell the audience that it is a company based in different countries (which it is as it is based in the UK and Australia). The wording is on top of a lighting bolt shape, this could show their aim to create sparks in the film industry, with new exciting ideas. The font of 'warpfilm' is white, in bold it is clear and the basic look shows the company does not mess around, they get to the point and produce award winning films. The name 'warp' is also different; this could show a company that it not just trying to follow the norm, it is a word that will stick in the audiences mind.

Studio Canal
This follows the colour scheme of warp films (black and white). However unlike warp film; that has a very simple white background and black shape; 'studio canal' has a background of half black, half grey; this could demonstrate the two different elements that go into 'studio canal' (production and distribution). It may also show the range of genre's of the films that they produce. The writing similar to warp film is white and bold; this could show that they are an independent film company; so do not have a high budget to do fancy things but they get straight to the point and create clean cut films.
