All of our lessons with James on after effects, were to teach us all the tricks to using the programme, not just because it is a good media skill to have (and it was fun!) but also so we could have the knowledge to create our own logo's (a great programme for A level students - its free to create a logo!). Since starting the after effects programme we have been gathering ideas about what we could use for our logo, the name we were going to use, background colours, images and which parts shall be animated.
My logo
I have decided on using the name "seaside productions", I chose this name because similar to an independent film, at the seaside you do not have to spend much money to have a fun and good days out therefore its a perfect location for those on a budget, similar to an independent film which shows that you don't have to have a huge budget to create a good and effect film (example = Animal Kingdom).'Lakeside productions' is an independent company that inspired my name based on the seaside. I have developed two initial sketches of my logos.

This one is a row of beach huts which spells out "seaside", I have chosen to do the beach huts in different colours to show that my my production company will show a range of genres, it is a company that has lots of dimensions. The birds are the animation part of my logo, I have chosen to animate birds flying to show that my company is free, it is not attached to a big company. I have chosen the white background because I wanted to show the audience that my company does not have any hidden secrets, it is a simple company that just creates great films.

This is my second initial logo idea, the reason why I chose to develop this one is because it does not involve taking an image of the Internet, it is all created by me on the after effects programme, showing that i have tested all the elements of after effects. The opening to 'Juno' with the cartoon script inspired me to draw a "cartoon" boat, rather than looking for it to look perfect i wanted it too look homemade, and to give the idea that our company is not just concerned with getting lots of money, its about producing films that make the audience have a raw emotion from it. I have chosen, to do the writing in white, to show that my company looks for little quirks that differ from other company's so rather than going for the normal black, I have gone for white.
